Afrilang was founded by Blessing Esset to address a problem hiding in plain sight. Access to African languages online remains limited, often excluded from modern digital learning platforms. Millions of people across Africa and in the diaspora lack structured, engaging ways to learn, teach, and preserve their native languages.
We are a language-learning marketplace built around live native-speaker tutors and structured curricula — designed to make African languages accessible, engaging, and relevant in today's digital world. The result is learning that's not just effective, but rooted in identity and community.
In 2021, Afrilang was recognised as the Best Innovative Idea by MEA Africa, validating both the urgency of the problem and the work we set out to do. Since then we have kept building — tools that simplify how African languages are learned, taught, and shared globally.
Our vision is a world where every African can learn, teach, and thrive in their native language, without barriers.
